Ciao a tutti
http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progetto:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2012/Monumenti
Grazie
Emma
Ciao a tutti
http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progetto:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2012/Monumenti

Hello, I know that this year Europeana provides a prize, but this year
about GLAM in WLM. The pictures that participate in this category are
at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:GLAM_images_from_Wiki_Loves_Monu…
but, how does it work? Must we put the template in each picture
individually? or could this be done automaticly? What about the prize?
Bye

Hi Santi,
this isn't the first time this question has been asked on this list--I
have given a thorough answer to it earlier this month (see
<http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikilovesmonuments/2012-September/0043…>).
In order not to have to answer that question again :-) I have just
added it to our FAQ at
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2012/FAQ#GL…>.
Thanks,

Aubrey
--------
Dear WLM Members,
The WLM Android app has been updated to v1.2.4, named Daigo-ji.
Release notes:
* Dynamically loads localization updates
* Clears large image previews before taking another photo - may help with
"out of memory" errors
* Stops "Mobile to desktop upload" category from being added to uploads
from the app - this category should be limited to desktop uploads from a
mobile upload
Please note: there are issues with the Cordova interface to the camera that
are outside of our control (Cordova is the app framework used to build our
mobile apps).
There are a significant number of users experiencing crashes and we are
limited in our ability to debug these problems, for several reasons:
* We are not able to reproduce these problems on the same devices that
seems to be experiencing the problems
* Google Play captures a part of the error which does not include the
Cordova aspects
* Google Play does not allow us to contact reviewers or people reporting
crashes
Therefore, if you hear of any users having such problems, please have them
contact us by email at: mobile-feedback-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org.
Thanks for your support.

http://wlm.wikimedia.it/wiki/Accordo_col_MiBAC
eventuali domande/commmenti dagli utenti italofoni.
io in
<http://wiki.wikimedia.it/wiki/Discussioni_associazione:Delibere/2012/Accord…>.

Hi Karthik,
thanks for the message.
Indeed I was collecting some ideas for banners in August, but it
didn't work out in the end. However, we have been using some different
banners for a few countries:
#1: United States -- they are using a totally different phrase from
the rest of the world due to the heritage terminology differences;
#2: the Netherlands -- for a local Wiki Takes Gouda event and the
Openmonumentendag series of events;
#3: Israel -- advertising tours organised by Wikimedia Israel.
For the rest of the countries, we have been using the general banners,
and I do not think it's /that/ boring for our visitors; I check our
page views statistics every day (and log my actions at
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Odder/CentralNotice_log>), and
this week we haven't received less than 190k per day - which isn't
that bad, after all.
I plan to start the record banners (with the slogan "Participate in
the world's largest photo competition and help improve Wikipedia!") as
soon as we break 168,000 pictures uploaded in the competition -- which
is going to happen in about 4-5 days, as far as I see.
I am gathering translations of the slogan at
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2012/Centra…>
-- and by the way, we are still missing translations into Malayalam
and Telugu :-))
Thanks,

Ciao
solo in 4 macroaree?
http://www.wikilovesmonuments.it/monumenti/lista-monumenti/
volontario qui) e suddivido i dati.
Grazie mille
Emma
Sapevatelo!

Subject: [Chapters] Europeana’s huge cultural dataset opens for re-use

Dear Colleagues,
Today we are publicly announcing that Europeana http://www.europeana.eu/portal/
has opened up its dataset of over 20 million cultural objects for free
re-use. This significant innovation has come about thanks to the
vision shown by all of you, the cultural heritage organisations that
make up Europeana
This release, by far the largest one-time dedication of cultural data
to the public domain using CC0, represents a real step change for
cultural organisations in open data access and it offers a new boost
to the digital economy as open data can fuel enterprise and create
opportunities for those in the creative industries.
Today’s press release: http://e2.ma/message/btwec/365c1c
Next week we will be further highlighting the news at the Open
Knowledge Festival in Helsinki.
We would be very grateful if you could help spread the news of what,
together, we have achieved with this step. Please communicate this
release widely, to bring it to the attention of policymakers,
politicians and the digital community. And we would appreciate seeing
this success highlighted on your own websites.
Best regards,
The Europeana Team
