PS segue mail con brevissimo resoconto della mia esperienza Ifla on
riferimenti al mondo Wikimedia nel board LTR Library Theory and Research,
sull'intervista che con una collega italiana abbiamo fatto a Stephen Wyber,
IFLA Headquarters Manager, Policy and Advocacy, sui due seminari fatti come
Cari saluti,
Carla

Subject: [IFLA-L] Two Library Advocacy Opportunities: SDG Action Week,
Global Media and Information Literacy Week
To: ifla-l(a)infoserv.inist.fr <ifla-l(a)infoserv.inist.fr>
Dear all,
First of all, I wanted to thank everyone who joined us, in person and
online, at this year’s World Library and Information Congress. Your energy
and ideas made it a great conference. For those who were not able to be
with us in Greece, you can of course watch a selection of key sessions
which were live-streamed <https://2019.ifla.org/live-stream/> – more than
we have ever made before in this way.
Secondly, I wanted to highlight two opportunities coming up in the next
months to highlight the vital work of libraries in the context of
international celebrations, and so attract the attention of new audiences.
>From 20-30 September, there will be SDG Action Week. Coming at the time of
the first discussions on the Sustainable Development Goals at the United
Nations General Assembly, this is an opportunity to highlight what
libraries are doing to make development happen. Thanks to this campaign,
organised by the UN Development Programme, there is a great chance to put
libraries and their work on the map. Find out more in our ‘Get Into SDG
Action Week <https://www.ifla.org/publications/node/92545>’ guide, and make
sure to register your actions through our Partner Page
<https://www.act4sdgs.org/partner/IFLA>.
>From 24-31 October, it will be Global Media and Information Literacy Week.
This is again an opportunity to put libraries on the map – this time one
set up by UNESCO – in order to demonstrate and celebrate our institutions’
work in promoting these skills among users. Participating libraries can
carry out a variety of activities, from simply displaying materials to
organising debates and training. Find out more in out ‘Get Into GAPMIL
<https://www.ifla.org/publications/node/11580>’ guide.
In both cases, there is a real chance for all libraries to be active, to
the benefit of the field as a whole. I wish you well in your advocacy.
Kind regards,
Gerald Leitner
IFLA Secretary General
