Hey all,
Thanks for all of your interest and excitement so far. We’ve heard from many of you already planning events, working to get CitationHunt ready, and thinking about making the #1lib1ref campaign a big success in your community. Here is what’s next:
Translation
We have updated all the pages at 1lib1ref.org for running the campaign. Here is a list of the pages that you should focus on translating and/or making appropriate for your language context (note that some of the pages, will need to be modified as appropriate for how your local Wikipedia works):
-
The Main Campaign Page: https://meta.wikimedia.org/ wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref -
The “How to participate” instructions: https://meta.wikimedia.org/ wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref/Participate https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref/Participate -

The Connect page: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/ 1Lib1Ref/Connect -
The Side Bar: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:The_Wikipedia_ Library/1Lib1Ref/Sidebar
Also, we have developed a simple 1-hour plan for events called “the Coffee Hour kit”: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/ 1Lib1Ref/Coffee_Kit
Note that there are a few coordination pages that do not need translation, but you should still check out:
-
A page for recording press/blog mentions: https://meta.wikimedia.org/ wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref/Press https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref/Press -

Beginning outreach with partners
This week the Wikipedia Library team is beginning outreach for network partners that supported the campaign last year, and other library networks we have collected over the course of the year. We recommend that you also consider reaching out to your library partners to help them get ready for the campaign, if you haven’t started to yet. Libraries frequently need a window of conversation to prior to events to plan support, engage communications teams, and prepare blog posts about the campaign.
We are using the email in this doc https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wezBxhhS5MEMSNTxhGev9Hke8gDlmJDx9Bn-MRJg8AU/edit to help get partners involved. Please feel free to copy it.
Cheers! The Wikipedia Library Team
