WikiTrento. La biblioteca, i testi e i personaggi trentini in Wikipedia. 17-26 novembre 2015, Biblioteca comunale di Trento.
by Eusebia Parrotto 11 Nov '15

11 Nov '15

by NATALIA PIOMBINO 03 Nov '15

03 Nov '15

It was therefore somewhat of a surprise to the library community when, less than a year later, the global library cooperative OCLC introduced Schema.org structured data markup into the pages for the 300 million plus resources on Worldcat.org. Things have changed significantly since those early days. Schema.org structured data is now published on over 10 million web domains; the vocabulary has expanded to include over 600 Types and nearly 1,000 Properties; it’s core capability for describing bibliographic resources has been greatly extended. There is now a specific bibliographic extension -- bib.schema.org and, Schema.org implementations and discussions are becoming common in the library community. Join Independent consultant Richard Wallis, former Technology Evangelist for OCLC, currently working with Google on Schema.org, for this two part, in-depth mini-series look at Schema.org, its use, and extension in the bibliographic domain and beyond. *PART 1 WEBINAR: Fit For a Bibliographic Purpose* *Date/Time:* Wednesday, 18 November 2015 at 10:00am-11:15am EST (UTC 15:00:00 - *World Clock:* http://bit.ly/Webinar-1_Wallis) *Abstract:* In this first webinar in the series, Independent Consultant, Richard Wallis, traces the history of the Schema.org vocabulary, plus its applicability to the bibliographic domain. He will share the background to, and activities of, the Schema Bib Extend W3C Community Group he chairs; why it was set up; how it approached the creation of bibliographic extension proposals; and how those proposals were shaped. He will then review the current status of the vocabulary and the recent introduction of the bib.schema.org and auto.schema.org extensions. Although Richard will be using bibliographic examples, the content of this webinar will be of interest and relevance to those in other domains, and/or considering other extensions. *PART 2 WEBINAR: Extending Potential and Possibilities* *Date/Time:* Wednesday, 2 December 2015, 10:00am-11:15am EST (UTC 15:00:00 - *World Clock:* http://bit.ly/Webinar-2_Wallis) *Abstract:* In this second more technical webinar in the series, Independent Consultant, Richard Wallis, explains the Schema.org extension mechanism, for external and reviewed/hosted extensions, and their relationship to the core Schema.org vocabulary. He will take an in-depth look at, demonstrate, and share experiences in designing, and creating a potential extension to the vocabulary. He will step through the process of creating the required vocabulary definition and examples files on a local system using a few simple tools then sharing them on a publicly visible temporary cloud instance before proposing to the Schema.org group. *ABOUT THE PRESENTER:* Richard Wallis Independent Consultant, is a distinguished thought leader in Linked Data and Semantic Web who has been at the forefront of the emergence of these technologies for over 20 years. He is Chair of the Schema Bib Extend, and Schema Architypes, W3C Community Groups and evangelist for the adoption of Linked Data in cultural heritage and the wider Web. He has an international reputation for insightful and entertaining keynote sessions at library, Web, and Semantic Web focused events. Currently working with OCLC, Google, and the banking industry on the extension, application and use of the Schema.org vocabulary; he is a pragmatist who believes in searching for implementable solutions. --*Free Registration now for Part 1* at http://bit.ly/wallis-part1 --*Free Registration for Part 2* (announcement coming soon on Webinar Website)

27 Ott '15

Come posso rendere aperti i miei lavori e i miei dati? Come posso gestire correttamente i datasets? Open Access, Open Education and Open data”.
by giaccai＠gmail.com 21 Ott '15

21 Ott '15

Grazie Susanna

Fwd: [cultural-partners] Wikimania 2016 GLAM track: help us shape it!
by Virginia Gentilini 21 Ott '15

21 Ott '15

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Shani <shani.even(a)gmail.com> Date: 17 October 2015 at 20:35 Subject: [cultural-partners] Wikimania 2016 GLAM track: help us shape it! To: Cultural Partners - ML <cultural-partners(a)wikimedia.ch> Cc: ginevra.sanvitale(a)wikimedia.it GLAMers around the world, I'm writing you regarding Wikimania 2016, which will be held this coming year in Esino Lario, *Italy, between June 22-27. *This is actually sooner than it might seems, so preparations have already begun (see Iolanda & Ginevra's presentation for more info <https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bc/1_year_to_get_your_thin…> ). The organizing team has selected me to be the *GLAM community liaison*, which means I'll help make sure our voice as a community is heard and the GLAM track lives up to be all that we want and need it to be (read more about the community liaison role below). To do that, we'd like you to *take action now and help us determine* how our track should look like. Please take a few minutes to read the explanation below about the different types of sessions. Then, please *submit your preliminary suggestions <http://goo.gl/forms/yGFQdWLZDO> *in the google form* by* *November 21st*. This will allow the organizing team to start work on all the sessions that are not "user digest" or "critical issues". As soon as we have an active link to "critical issues" submissions, I'll post it here. I'm here if you have any further questions. :) Cheers, Shani. ------------------------------------------- *There are a few changes to the Wikimania format compared with previous years. I've tried highlighting the important parts for you - * *Types of sessions in the GLAM track* The presentation I linked to above will give you a better sense of what the organizing team is aiming for, but all in all, these are the types of activities we will have - *1 - User Digest: * *what:* provides an overview of many different topics *target*: beginners (no background knowledge required) *where*: largest meeting space (sport hall) *length*: 30 minutes *topics*: status of the organization, strategies related to territories, dynamics of the online community, research related to Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects, software development, events, legislation *selection*: direct invitation (suggested by liaison ) I've asked *Liam Wyatt & Jane Darnell* (neither need presenting, I believe :)), to give the user digest session. Both have agreed to work on it with me and will be presenting it together at Wikimania. I am sure they'll do a fabulous job summarizing the state of GLAM. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank both of them on behalf of the community for agreeing to put their time and energy to do this important session. *2 - Critical Issues (replaces the good old presentations): * *what*: presents a critical issue, problem, possible solution, critical analysis *target:* advanced (background knowledge required) *where*: medium spaces (theater of the Kindergarten, meeting) *length*: 30 minutes each session *topics:* topics meant to nourish discussions *selection:* call for proposals, will be decided by the content committee, as always, maybe with blind peer-review. *A call for proposals for the "critical issues" presentations will be available around the end of November / beginning of December. *I'll let you all know when the link is available. *3 - Discussions: * *what:* discussions with an objective *target:* advanced and beginners *where*: Primary School *objectives*: taking a decision, browsing possible solutions for a problem, making latent problems and issues emerging, considering a topic from different perspectives *selection*: community proposals (collected by liaison) *4 - Training: * *What:* meant to enhance skills *Target*: advanced and beginners *Where*: Multimedia room of the new museum *Length:* 1.5 hours each *Topics:* focus on practice *selection*: community proposals (collected by liaison) *There will not be many of these, so make sure you put in your proposals in the google doc asap! * *5 - Posters: * *What:* provides an overview of what is going on in the movement in different countries and locations. *Target:* everyone. *Where*: Former Museum/collaborative space. Posters will be presented in the community village, with brochures & help desks and will be managed by WMDE since they are in charge of the community village. *6 - Lightning talks: * TBD. Maybe in the evenings or in the community village. *7 - Meetups:* *what:* small informal meetings on specific topics *target*: specific or general, small groups *where:* small spaces, bars, restaurants and the tensile structure; outdoor *when*: time for meetups included in the schedule (not simply planned after the working sessions or at lunch) *8 - Anything we've missed?* please feel free to add ideas to the google form. *Thematic Liaisons * This year the organizing team is working with community liaisons for various themes, like GLAM, Education etc,, to help build the program. I've been asked to be the GLAM community liaison and have agreed to do so in my capacity as a volunteer. This is how the program committee described the role - *The Wikimania Esino Lario program benefits from the involvement of a team of community members invited to contribute to the program as liaisons. Their role is representing the interests of their group/community and more specifically: 1. Making sure the program includes presentations their community is interested in listening to. This means providing and collecting feedback on the program. 2. Making sure Wikimania offers discussions and training their community is asking for or needs. This means collecting proposals for discussions and requests of training. 3. Making sure members of their community attend discussions to guarantee the interests and the diversity of our community is represented. 4. Getting the best speaker to provide an overview of what is their group/community about and what is going on (the overview is a “user digest presentation”, video recorded and meant to be used online for further dissemination). 5. Suggesting “guest speakers” to invite to enrich discussions. 6. Collecting posters of the relevant projects happening in their group/community (posters are important to make sure the overview has some linked documentation and it provides a relevant international dimension). 7. Inviting their group/community to submit “critical issues presentations”.Liaisons have been arbitrarily selected. They do not curate all the content related to their group/community, but they have the role to make sure the program is relevant for their group/community. The focus of the liaisons is rather on what their group/community is interested in listening to, rather than what their members are interested in telling and teaching the rest of the movement. * In short, I'm here to serve, to facilitate, to represent our interest as a group and to make sure we have the most awesome GLAM track. :) _______________________________________________ Cultural-Partners mailing list Cultural-Partners(a)wikimedia.ch https://intern.wikimedia.ch/lists/listinfo/cultural-partners Please treat emails sent to this list as confidential.Ask senders for permission before forwarding emails off-list.

giocare con wikidata
by raffaele messuti 21 Ott '15

21 Ott '15

To: Wikimedia Mailing List <wikimedia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org> As you might be aware, it's Open Access Week! Now in its 8th year, this annual event highlights the importance of free licensing in scholarly research. It's a cause strongly aligned with what Wikimedians do. There are at least two online events involving Wikimedia that you can engage with regardless of where you live: * A weeklong virtual edit-a-thon, for Wikipedia articles relating to OA: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/OA_week * A panel discussion I will moderate next week, about the intersection of Wikimedia and OA: http://wikistrategies.net/oa-wikipedia-panel/ (This will be in the evening in the Americas, morning in Asia/Australia; recording will be available too.) There are several other, more local events involving Wikipedia and OA: http://openaccessweek.org/main/search/search?q=Wikipedia+2015 What's happening in your community?
